What is Laser Dentistry

What is Laser Dentistry?

A laser dental treatment works by honing an intense beam of light energy to perform precise dental procedures. They are easy to control and allow dentists to painlessly cut or vaporize tissue on contact, eliminate decay in teeth, and remove soft tissue from gums.

Lasers are safe and effective for treating cavities in both kids and adults. Laser dentistry can also be used for soft tissue treatments, like with the exposure of wisdom teeth or swollen gums from braces. Another benefit of laser treatment on soft tissue is that sutures aren't necessary.

Full Mouth Scaling and Polishing

Scaling and polishing removes deposits such as plaque and calculus (tartar) from tooth surfaces. Over time, the regular removal of these deposits may reduce gingivitis (a mild form of gum disease) and prevent progression to periodontists (severe gum disease).

Scaling is a safe and routine procedure and does not damage the tooth surface in any way if done by a dental professional.

Gums Treatment

In some cases of gum disease, root planing (debridement) may be required. This is a deep clean under the gums that gets rid of bacteria from the roots of your teeth. Before having the treatment, you may need to have a local anesthetic (painkilling medication) to numb the area.
