Kids love their candies, chocolates, cookies, other sugar-loaded treats and starchy food, yet they run away from the dental hygiene. As a parent it’s your duty to ensure that the little ones practice good oral hygiene.
Pediatric dentistry/ Kids Dentistry is the branch of dentistry dealing with children from birth through adolescence. If you are a parent you know that children are not always patient and/or cooperative. A pediatric dentist knows how to examine and treat children in ways that make them comfortable. They also use specially designed equipment and an office environment that is welcoming to children increasing their comfort level.
Tooth decay also develops when the child's teeth and gums are exposed to any liquid or food other than water for long periods or frequently throughout the day. Natural or added sugars in the liquid or food are changed to acid by bacteria in the mouth.
Your child may need a root canal if the tooth is badly damaged or infected. An abscess (pocket of pus), cavities, or an accident or injury can also lead to a root canal. A root canal can be done on baby teeth and permanent teeth.
